Plasma Portrait PSR- Picture Perfect Non laser Skin Resurfacing

The latest in skin resurfacing is the non laser Plasma Perfect PSR. It is ideally suited for treatment of wrinkles and sun damage on the face, especially around the eye area. In most people it is possible to improve wrinkles by at least 50% in one treatment session. The Plasma PSR can produce results almost as good as laser resurfacing, but heals faster and appears to be safer. Plasma Portrait can be used as an alternative to or in conjunction with muscle relaxant injections or injectable fillers.

How does the Plasma Portrait work?

The Plasma Portrait is a nitrogen based heat cloud which heats and removes the outer sun damaged layers of the skin, allowing new fresher skin to form. The end result is smoother skin with fewer wrinkles and without the sun damaged blemishes and spots.

How much improvement can be expected?

It is possible to achieve about 70% improvement in wrinkles around the eye, 50% around the mouth and lips. The skin will appear fresher, more youthful, and many blemishes and brown marks will disappear.

How Many skin treatments are needed?

Most people need only one high energy treatment session, although it is possible to have further skin treatments if needed.

How long is the healing process?

Healing usually takes 5-7 days. After 5 days, sunscreen and makeup may be Applied to the skin. Some people with olive skin may need to use a depigmenting lotion to prevent post treatment temporary increase in skin pigmentation.

How long does the treatment take?

The treatment is performed in the clinic. No hospitalization is needed A numbing cream is applied for at least 1 hour prior to treatment. The treatment usually takes about 30 minutes.

Does it hurt?

Depending on the strength of the treatment, the Plasma Portrait is potentially painful. To minimize discomfort, a numbing cream is applied for at least 1 hour before treatment. Local anasesthetic injections are usually used also. Pain puffers may be used in addition. After the treatment, most people feel mild sunburn, but it is rare to have significant pain; painkillers are not usually needed after the treatment.

What will I look like after the treatment?

After the treatment your skin looks reddenend like sunburn. It is red and swollen for 2-3 days,; a bronzing of the skin then appears which peels after about 5 days. By 7 days the skin usually looks pink, but can be covered with makeup or a tinted sunscreen. Usually after a few weeks the pinkness will disappear.

What precautions are needed after the treatment?

It is important not to rub the skin for the first few days. A small amount of Dermeeze should be applied to the skin to keep it slightly moist. Sun exposure should be avoided for a few weeks after treatment, and a tinted sunscreen applied after 5 days.

What complications can occur after Plasma Portrait PSR?

Complications are not common compared to laser resurfacing but can occur with any medical treatment.

These include:

  • Scarring
  • Infection
  • Increased skin pigmentation
  • Decrease skin pigmentation
  • Prolonged redness
  • Cold sores
  • Patchiness skin colour
