 What is the Airgent?

 The Airgent is the latest non invasive cosmetic treatment for wrinkles on the face, neck, chest and hands. It is also becoming the treatment of choice for stretch marks, and can be used in conjunction with fractionated lasers for the treatment of acne scarring.
The machine uses a high pressure device to implant dermal filler just under the surface of the skin, leading to a smoother more youthful appearance.

 

 

 

                           

What is Airgent used for?

How does Airgent work?

Airgent is a new technology approved by TGA (Australia) which uses a specialized high pressure system, which implants natural products just under the surface of the skin, making the skin smoother and more elastic. There are no needles or injections.
The usual product used is hyaluronic acid which is natural to the skin, but is lost in the aging process. Hyaluronic acid is one of the most important substances in the underlying surface of the skin, which gives human skin its youthful appearance. Hyaluronic acid attracts water to itself, making the skin thicker and smoother.
The high pressure of the Airgent machine also stimulates collagen under the skin surface to produce new collagen fibers, making the skin permanently stronger and more resilient.

 

 

Does Hyaluronic acid have side effects?

Side effects have not been reported with hyaluronic acid, as it is natural to skin. There have not been reports of allergy or infection with this substance. It is safe and approved for use in Australia.

How many treatments of Airgent are needed?

Ideally it is best to have 3 treatment sessions, about 3-4 weeks apart.

 

Does Airgent treatment hurt?

Airgent treatment can be uncomfortable in certain areas. A numbing cream can be used prior to treatment to minimize this discomfort. There is no real discomfort after the treatment.

What sort of improvement can I realistically expect with Airgent treatment?

Realistically, it is possible to achieve noticeable improvement in fine lines, stretch marks and acne scars after each treatment, but more so after the 3rd treatment. This should be noticeable within the first week or 2 of the treatment. Improvement will continue for many months after the treatment, due to the production of new collagen under the skin surface.

How long does the improvement last?

The initial improvement with the hyaluronic acid implantation under the skin may wear off to some degree after 6 months, but the new collagen produced will take over by 9 months and lead to ongoing improvement.
It is still unknown how long the effects last.

How long does the treatment take?

Generally the treatment takes 30-60 minutes.

What do I look like after the treatment?

After the treatment, you will notice some mosquito like bumps on the skin, which will go down after 24-48 hours. There may be a puncture mark which also lasts 1-2 days.
You can apply makeup the following day.
It is also helpful to use a vitamin A and C cream after the treatment to help stimulate the collagen under the skin surface.

Are there any precautions after the treatment with Airgent?

There are no specific restrictions after the Airgent treatment. You can apply makeup as usual. It is helpful to use a vitamin A&C cream to enhance the effect of the Airgent therapy.
To get the best results, it is best to drink a lot of water, as the hyaluronic acid will attract this water to the skin surface and “plumps” out the skin contour.

What are the complications associated with the Airgent treatment?

There have not been any serious complications reported with this treatment.
However as with any treatment there is a possible risk of
• Scarring
• Infection
• Swelling
• Bruising
• Cold sores
• Increased skin pigmentation
• Decreased skin pigmentation
• Not getting expected results

What are the alternatives to Airgent treatment?

There are a number of alternative and complementary treatments. These include
• Fraxel laser- Can be used instead of, or in conjunction with Airgent for acne scarring, stretch marks, and fine lines on the neck, chest and hands
• Fractionated CO2 laser- Can be used as an alternative or in conjunction with Airgent for wrinkles and fine lines on the face, and acne scarring.
• Injectable dermal fillers- Some deeper acne scars benefit more from semi permanent or permanent dermal fillers. Deeper furrows on the face are better treated with injectable dermal fillers.

Are Airgent treatments safe?

Airgent has been approved by TGA Australia and is considered safe and effective.
